Chicken Yiros Souvlaki (wrapped in lightly grilled pita)

The chicken was deliciously moist, the yogurt sauce was terrific and the fresh salad gave the souvlaki delightful crunch.

Overall:

Quick service, simple decor, tasty souvlakis. Note that orders here are taken at the counter.

Overall:

The only thing impressive about this place was the outhouse they had at the back. Food was average and portions were small, while the service was so-so. The staff here were very strict about their menu and refused to serve us chips on their own as it wasn’t on the menu. To be honest I’d much rather head around the corner to Auction Rooms for a bite to eat.

The burgers here were without a doubt mouthwateringly delicious! The soft juicy Wagyu patties were cooked to a perfect medium,  the homemade sauces and pickles were delicious and the burger buns (which are baked in-house daily) were nicely toasted. Everything simply tasted fresh and amazing. I wasn’t surprised to discover that the beef that they use is hormone, growth promotant and GMO free, and that free range chicken and eggs are used. Alcoholic milkshakes can also be found on the menu here, with each milkshake having a double shot of booze (eg. chocolate house-made marshmallow vodka milkshake). Service was quick and friendly, atmosphere was very casual, and takeaway orders receive a 10% discount.

Overall:

Great value for money as the burgers here are enormous. The thick beef patty was well cooked however was lacking in flavor, while the chicken fillet was deliciously juicy and tender. The chips were crunchy and well seasoned, and you can’t really go wrong serving aioli with chips. A nice burger place but nothing outstanding.

Quietly hidden away up a small flight of stairs, East of Everything know how to serve up some great Southern food. The menu is small and simple, the atmosphere relaxed and the staff friendly.

Pork Ribs (Half) served with a baked potato

Overall:

One of the worst steaks I’ve ever had (flavourless, tough, rubbery) and some of the best ribs I’ve ever had (tender fall off the bone meat that had been generously marinated in a delicious gluten-free secret recipe basting sauce). Be prepared for some messy eating when it comes to the ribs, but don’t let that deter you from coming here as the staff will offer you the option of having a bib (which they even tie around your neck for you). The service was quick, the atmosphere family friendly, a place certainly worth visiting for the ribs.

Overall:

After reading such complimentary reviews I found the burgers to be disappointingly average. The bread was rather dry and the burger fillings unexceptional. There are definitely many other places out there that serve better burgers. On a positive note, the fries were quite good and I liked the buzzer system (akin to Chemist Warehouse) that they have in place here.

Coffee Syphon

Thoughts:

Umami Burger – 200g Wagyu and Angus beef (cooked medium rare unless otherwise specified), umami rub, brown mushroom sauce, gruyere, caramelised onions, oven roasted tomato and a parmesan crisp between a sweet brioche bun with a side of beer battered chips, coleslaw, cornichons, spicy chip dip, tomato sauce and wasabi kewpie. Don’t be fooled by the petite size of this burger as it is quite heavy and filling. The beef patty itself lacked flavour but the other ingredients made up for it. The chips were satisfying (crunchy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside) and the selection of side dips were great. (I particularly enjoyed the wasabi kewpie) = Good

Corn and Zucchini Fritters – a generous serving of crunchy panko crumbed corn and zucchini fritters topped with smoked salmon, avocado, a perfectly poached egg and wasabi kewpie = Good

Overall:

Nshry (pronounced ‘noshery’) offers beautiful beachfront views and a tasty unique Japanese inspired menu. You have to work a little bit to get the attention from the staff but at least the food comes out quickly. This place is quite small and the tables inside can get a bit cramped on days when the weather isn’t so good so best to come along on a warm and pretty day.

(beef, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, mustard, mayonnaise and tomato sauce)

Overall:

Big juicy mouthwatering burgers that really hit the spot. The beef patty was cooked to perfection, the tangy pickle balanced out the sweetness of the brioche bun, and with every bite delicious melted cheese would escape from the burger. The menu here is simple with only 3 burgers on offer (Mr Burger, Mr Meat and Mr Veg), as well as chips (seasoned with chicken salt, soft and fluffy on the inside, golden and crispy on the outside) and drinks.
