Overall:

The word ‘sabai’ means comfortable or relaxed in Thai, and this restaurant is certainly a place where you can kick back, relax and enjoy lots of great contemporary Thai food. Authentic Thai cuisine is based on the fusion of five primary flavours: sweet, salty, sour, spicy and bitter. These flavours are combined to produce dishes of amazing intensity, and this was definitely the case for many of the dishes we sampled. The somtum in particular was like a flavour punch in the face! (but in a good way.) A place worth visiting for well balanced Thai food and friendly service.

Fancy Hank’s BBQ Joint

DSC00176

As soon as we looked at their barbecue meat menu, we knew that we wanted to try one of everything. Unfortunately the kitchen had already run out of the Beef Short Ribs, but what we sampled included the Angus Beef Brisket, Andouille Sausage, Beer Can Chook, Pork Ribs, and Pulled Pork. We also sampled their Potato Salad, Coleslaw, Corn Bread and Mac & Cheese. Sad to say, the meats tasted average and we enjoyed the side dishes more.

I love second hand books and managed to walk away with two books at $2 each. Bargain!

Overall:

The great thing about Fancy Hank’s BBQ Joint is that you get to choose exactly how much meat you want to eat. It’s a shame that none of the meats particularly stood out. Perhaps we went on an off night. In any case I would be more inclined to come here for drinks and to hang out rather than for the food.

SunPork Fresh Foods – Tasting Event

SunPork

I recently had the exciting opportunity to attend a tasting event that showcased SunPork’s expanding range of pre-prepared pork products. This stylish event was held at Eureka 89 and the views were truly spectacular!

SunPork Drinks

The night began with a few cocktails and we later settled down to enjoy the mouth-watering menu created by Eureka Head Chef Renee Martillano.

Attending this event reinvigorated my love for pork! Everything was simply delicious however the clear stand outs for me were the shredded pork croquette and the pork skin crumble dessert (who would have imagined that pork skin would be incredible in a dessert?). SunPork Fresh Foods is the largest pork producing group in the Southern Hemisphere and is 100% Australian owned and operated. Our menu was inspired by SunPork pre-prepared products which are perfect for busy people who want delicious home-made meals that can be easily made with minimal time and effort. SunPork Fresh Food products are available at Woolworths and their range includes Pork Schnitzels, Slow Cooked Pork Belly, Smoked Pork Chops, Sweet and Spicy BBQ Pork Ribs as well as a wide variety of fresh pork products. Overall:

A friend of mine mentioned how great the ribs are at Breslin Bar & Grill and thankfully I was not disappointed. The ribs here are slow cooked for 16 hours and are then char grilled over a wood fire. A must try for those who are a fan of ribs. Ambience was great and the service was prompt.

Overall:

One of the worst steaks I’ve ever had (flavourless, tough, rubbery) and some of the best ribs I’ve ever had (tender fall off the bone meat that had been generously marinated in a delicious gluten-free secret recipe basting sauce). Be prepared for some messy eating when it comes to the ribs, but don’t let that deter you from coming here as the staff will offer you the option of having a bib (which they even tie around your neck for you). The service was quick, the atmosphere family friendly, a place certainly worth visiting for the ribs.
